VBKOM signs memorandum of understanding for the development of the Mokopane tin project

VBKOM signs memorandum of understanding for the development of the Mokopane tin project

In recent news, VBKOM signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with aim-listed Bushveld Minerals’ subsidiary, Greenhills Resources, for the development of the Mokopane tin project, in Limpopo.

The MoU provides for VBKom to conduct due diligence on the project for a period to January 31.

The Mokopane Tin Project is a brownfields tin project, which contains 18,447 tonnes of tin with an average grade of 0.12% tin (Sn) on two adjacent deposits.

It is positioned on the Northern Limb of the Bushveld Complex and comprises of one prospecting right (2205 PR), covering six farms with an area of approximately 13,422 ha.

Within the licence area, numerous targets for open-castable disseminated tin resources have been identified.

The shared development is projected to build on a 2014 scoping study based on two deposits; Groenfontein and Zaaiplaats.

The study foresees an initial 691 000 t/y run-of-mine operation to produce 700 t/y of 99.5% purity metal.
