The project deliverables were focused around facilitating a comprehensive risk management process as part of a Pre-Feasibility Study for a potential mining development. VBKOM was tasked with identifying and quantifying technical, financial, and operational risks that could impact the project's viability during the early planning stages.

Key activities and outputs included a PFS Risk Register to be used as a structured database of identified risks, categorised by severity and likelihood, specifically tailored to the project’s PFS-level requirements. It also comprised of a Risk Mitigation Strategy, whichincorporated a set of actionable controls and recommendations designed to de-risk the project as it moves toward the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) phase.

Consideration was given to the specific operating environment associated with Anthracite Surface Mining in South Africa, ensuring that the technical assessment remained relevant to the conditions and requirements of the project. Technical inputs were reviewed and integrated on a consistent basis, with attention to assumptions, traceability and the intended use of the results.

The scope was delivered through a coordinated approach that connected the technical inputs, analytical activities and final outputs to the client's agreed objectives. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that the findings were not only technically robust, but also clearly documented and practical to apply. The resulting body of work gave the client a structured basis for understanding the outcomes, evaluating available options and confidently determining the most appropriate way forward.
