VBKOM provided risk services, facilitating a Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP 5) for Transnet.

The work programme incorporated the key activities and outputs identified for the assignment, including a HAZOP 5 Workshop Facilitation, Workshop Preparation Pack (guidewords, nodes), a Technical Risk Register, and a HAZOP 5 Report (findings, recommendations, responsible parties).

The technical approach was applied within the context of a Capital-Intensive industry in South Africa, ensuring that the project-specific operating and study environment remained central to the assessment.

The work was coordinated to maintain consistency across the technical inputs, activities and outputs, while keeping the assignment aligned with the agreed project objective and intended use of the results. The final scope therefore combined technical analysis with clear documentation and structured communication, providing the client with a practical, reviewable basis for progressing the project or the next stage of work.
